A walnut slab & resin chandelier for a special family and repeat clients. We had built a large dining table for their family last year and as they decorated their new home here in Idaho, the conversation about lighting over their dining table turned into an opportunity to highlight Idaho's wood and rivers in a new light!β€‰πŸŒ„   Admirers of art and wood, Janelle (mom) and Kyrsten (daughter) gave us their input on the design and then designer and craftsman @matt.heim created the comp in various colors. The soothing blue combination was chosen for it's imitation of water and it's ability to nicely contract the silver river in their dining table.     A figured walnut slab was chosen for its grain and undulating live edge.     A special mold was developed to encapsulate the slab. The river was hand-jigged by Matt.     We used a brushed gold 8-light chandelier by @westelm as the inner workings and then built the walnut casing around it. Matt did an incredible job of compound mitering the corners and creating the grain-matched edges.     It's our first lighting project and we are so grateful for the trust and creative input of Janelle and Kyrsten. They are some of our most supportive and encouraging clients and we are blessed to call friends!    Now, during their seasons in Idaho, the whole family can gather together around their Idaho-sourced and built dining table and have the soft light of the complimentary chandelier cast a warm glow on their meals, craft projects and gatherings. Thanks for being so amazing to work with, Janelle and Kyrsten!β€‰βπŸ’™

A special river + three island + waterfall edge local black walnut dining table underway! Thank you to our client Larry in Florida for this artistic project. He has vision and loves art, so we've been collaborating with him on all the details: slab choice and layout, islands layout, colors, waterfall design and more.     We created a temporary dam between the grey and blues in order to slow the flow between those sections. The dam did it's job. The colors are blending just enough and splendidly.  We can't wait to show you the finished product.   Thanks to our local and national clients for such inspiring pieces that we have the blessing to work on!

A bench whose undulating lines and vibrant colors imitate the epic landscape surrounding it. We had the privilege of crafting and delivering this cast black walnut bench to a lovely client in Stanley, ID this past weekend. Our gratitude to Vinny at @ketchumkitchens for connecting us!     She has discerning taste and her modern site-built home is a testimony to prioritizing the home's design around the exquisite views of the Sawtooth's just across the valley.     A figured slab of local black walnut was cast in the resin, allowing its flowing live edges and figure to shine. Brilliant blue sky, deep green grasses and trees, the flowing Salmon River and the native forests are evoked in the multi-blues and greens.    Thankfully, the bench is what she envisioned and her view is more than we imagined. We're super thankful for supportive clients who love the beauty of wood and the daily inspiration of nature + art!

Ode to Idaho's rivers. This coffee table was commissioned and designed by new Idaho transplant @dsparanteau. And what a great idea it is! The state's main rivers form an intricate and artistic topographical scene and provide a fun opportunity to use local wood and resin to highlight the beauty and abundance of the Gem State.     The main section is local catalpa. The Montana section is local black walnut. The resin edge is eye-catching and showcases the undulating western state border.     We enjoyed collaborating with Dave on this piece and genuinely appreciate his support of a local maker as he transitions from being a Texan to being an Idahoan!     Welcome to #idahome, Dave and Janet! β€‰πŸžπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡²πŸ‘ Our thanks to local maker partners @holzapplecustomdesigns for the amazing CNC work on those intricate edges and rivers! Knocked it out of the park as usual. And to @forrestweldingllc for the sturdy custom legs! πŸ’―πŸ’―

Turning a new leaf with this first edition wood + resin bowl. Local American elm burl + sky blue resin elegantly unite in this functional piece of art. We love how this shape highlights the grain and the transparency of the resin in a fresh way.     Go see this bowl at @ketchumkitchens!     More to come soon!

A gorgeous heirloom local black walnut and golden river side table pair is heading to a client in Iowa today. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ We're calling this wood "heirloom" because it was cut, slabbed and stored by Tim's dad here in Eagle around 30 years ago. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ The highly figured legs are made from walnut slab. They're pretty special. Tim handcrafted them with care, particularly with his dad in mind. His dad was a master woodworker and adored hardwoods, as does Tim's mother. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ We love making furniture and art with a story: legacy, quality, stewardship and longevity. We are blessed to do what we love! πŸ’™

When families get involved in the making of their custom table, crafting with kids takes on an elevated meaning! We met @melisskinghorn at our February charcuterie board class and she later contacted us for a special counter height bar table for their families’ downstairs entertaining room. With its 84” length and their vision of a blue-green river, there were plenty of resin buckets to go around for Melissa, Jake and their four darling children. ⁣ ⁣ Ranging in age from 2 to 8, the apron-clad helpers measured and mixed the pigments and joined in the pouring process. They did very well, and when needed, mom and dad helped steady the mixing drill and guide little hands.β£πŸ§’πŸ‘Ά ⁣ Families who craft together, make pretty things together! Thanks for letting us add to your beautiful family home!⁣ 🏑 ⁣ The table is curing beautifully. We’ll share the finished result soon. ⁣🏞

A Father's Day tribute to the dads present and to those no longer with us who support, mentor and encourage their children to cultivate their talents and pursue their passions. β£πŸ’™ ⁣ WoodLab started with the treasured local walnut wood and equipment of Tim's father, a master woodworker. Bob started teaching Tim woodworking and safe equipment use at the tender age of 6. ⁣He's no longer with us, but his commitment to mentorship and craftsmanship continues to this day and is supported heartily by Tim's mother, an avid fan of fine woodworking. ⁣ Steve helps us in the shop regularly, oiling boards and helping us tidy things up. ⁣ ⁣ Len encourages and supports from afar and loves that his son loves what he's doing. ⁣ We are blessed with supportive fathers and thankful for the many dads and mentors that surround us. πŸ’― ⁣ ⁣ #fathersday #happyfathersday #dadsmatter #dadswhowoodwork

When your clients wow you with their styling of their custom table, you just have to share. @43bhg in Meridian at Town Square has some serious modern luxury style going on with these plush camel conference chairs and their 12 foot custom WoodLab made conference table. The chandelier and tree-lined views don't hurt either. ⁣(The new office is under construction still but from the looks of this photo, things are looking fantastic). ⁣ A lot of people are moving to Boise and migrating around the Treasure Valley. If you're looking to relocate, sell or buy locally, the team at 43 Degrees North can more than support you with an extensive and highly knowledgeable team. ⁣ ⁣ And, you might get to sit at this table and sign your offer. πŸ˜‰ ⁣ Thanks for the local support, Team 43!! 🀩😍🏑

By day, it's a stunning premium black walnut and silver resin river dining table. By night, it's dinner and a show. πŸ‘‰ ⁣⁣ Our gratitude to Rob in LA for commissioning this 10 foot dining table for a special residential build project that he's working on.⁣⁣ The table will be a feature in the modern dining space. ⁣⁣ The programmable LED underlights run the length of the river and highlight the double wood island and curvy live edges in a rainbow of colors or just soft white. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ A special steel plate was engineered to cover the underside of the river and lights to ensure that the lights were directed upward into the river instead of dissipating. James of @forrestweldingllc fabricated the steel cap and the heavy duty steel legs for the table. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ We are pretty thrilled with the result: a luxe wood and resin design for dining anytime, and a glowing platform for meals and evenings that that call for a little something extra. β£β£πŸ•―πŸ₯‚ ⁣⁣ We'd love to create a "lit" table for your home or office! Message us to discuss.

This nearly 12' silver maple dining table was made from the client's beloved slabs. ⁣ ⁣ The slabs had been air-dried and stored for years, but still needed some kiln-drying to reduce moisture content and ensure the final product was stable. ⁣ ⁣ We coordinated the kilning process and finalized the design with Patty and Michael, a wonderful couple who we had a great time working with!⁣ ⁣ They came into the shop to do the pour with us and to oversee the colors: they wanted the resin to be pigmented with silver and gold, which imitates the silvery grain and gold tones of the wood. The resin is transparent enough to see the live edge through the river, adding dimension. ⁣ The slabs feature some wonderful wrinkle that is highlighted by the metallics of the pigments. ⁣ ⁣ It's an heirloom piece in their natural light-filled space. We look forward to more projects with them and so appreciate the local support!⁣ β€πŸ’―

Your new favorite stop on the #boisegreenbelt is open - The Greenbelt Market! ⁣🏞 ⁣ This modern, bright space was the dream child of @tia.idaho.marketing and @greenbeltmagazine and was purpose-built for all of us...the walkers, bikers, surfers, kayakers, cafe-goers among us and all who love the Boise Greenbelt! ⁣ Stop in for a healthy snack and drink and to sit on the patio and take in the fresh air and surfers just across the way at Whitewater Park. β£πŸ„β€β™‚οΈ ⁣ You'll notice some local custom woodwork and metalwork from yours truly and @holzapplecustomdesigns (the G sign and Market sign) including: the outdoor G sign, the Market sign, the checkout counter, a backlit wall art and shelving unit and a Greenbelt-inspired cafe table. The mountain to river design on the wall art and G sign was designed by @matt.heim, who also worked on the POS.⁣ ⁣ We utilized mostly local American elm and eco-friendly resin to create these custom pieces made specially for Tia and Greenbelt! ⁣We had a great time designing, fabricating and installing these pieces that are modern yet reflect the history and natural resources of our city. ⁣ We loved working with Tia and so appreciate what this market opening represents...a place of repose, interaction and inspiration in this beautiful place we call home. ⁣🌳⭐

We love making work from home more inspiring, beautiful and sustainable and we love our local clients! Dennis lives not far from our shop and chose to support a local maker whilst upgrading his home office space. We are truly grateful, Dennis! ⁣ ⁣ This handcrafted live edge slab desk was crafted from a premium figured local black walnut slab. The smoky black resin fills are minimal but highlight the deep grain. ⁣ ⁣ The result is contemporary and classic, ensuring his appreciation for the exceptional materials and enduring design for years to come. ⁣ ⁣ A hammered black metal base was fabricated by @forrestweldingllc to anchor the desk and match the weight of the visual weight of the piece. ⁣ ⁣ Finished with @osmo_usa 1101 and 3043, this desk will stand up to coffee spills, electronics and writing paraphernalia. ⁣ ⁣ #WFH can be a daily reminder of the beauty of our local resources. 🌳

High-end modern rustic design, tons of natural light and an abundance of trees perfectly compliments this handcrafted live edge local walnut and resin river table, made specially for local power couple Jeff and Lyndi Martel and their new home. The deep blue reflects the river's beauty just beyond their park-like backyard.⁣⁣ ⁣ Jeff (@bhgre43degrees) and Lyndi (@lyndimm) are an amazingly dynamic team in business with their renown @43bhg real estate firm and in building a beautiful family. ⁣ ⁣⁣ Their taste is superb and the custom design elements that Lyndi selected make it an exceptional abode in very close proximity to the Boise River in Eagle.⁣ ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Lyndi, Jeff and two of their daughters poured this ocean blue resin river with us at our shop. We enjoyed their enthusiasm and attention to detail as they selected pigments, mixed and poured the resin into this beautifully undulating river.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ We are honored to have crafted this special table for their new home. A custom premium local walnut slab desk fit for a discerning professional and woodworking enthusiast. ⁣ ⁣ Michael wanted a special slab, full of figure and character and that's just what we selected for this live edge, natural-shaped desk. ⁣ ⁣ The slab dictated the shape and size, while Michael's style sense dictated the smoky black resin fills and careful shaping of its edges. ⁣ The adjustable height base allows our client to break up the workday with a combination of sitting and standing. ⁣ Michael has frequented the shop to check in on progress and provide feedback and minor adjustments along the way. The outcome is a collaborative testimony of passion-driven client and fabricators. ⁣ ⁣ When you get to work with people and wood like this, what more can you ask for as a custom furniture maker? ⁣ ⁣ Thank you for the opportunity to craft this luxurious platform for your work, Michael! ⁣

Lush green! Continuing our green theme this week, this special Siberian elm and emerald resin river coffee table is a labor of local love. β£β£πŸ’š ⁣⁣ The tree was rescued from a local golf course, milled, dried, kilned and stored at a ranch for months before we retrieved the slab for a project. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ A client had commissioned this table, but eventually went in a different, more encompassing direction, so we slowly finished the table over many months and now have it in inventory on sale on our website (woodlab.co). ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ It is lush, luxe and beautifully represents the City of Trees. ⁣⁣🌳 ⁣⁣ The handcrafted steel base is finished in a burnished bronze by and made by @forrestweldingllc. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Need this in your home, office or for a client? Commissioned by Jeff and Lyndi Martel, owners of Better Homes and Gardens 43Β° North Real Estate (@43bhg) in Meridian, this 12 foot local black walnut and emerald resin river conference table speaks volumes of the beauty of our City of Trees!⁣ 🌳🌳 ⁣ Luxe yet grounded, the rich brown and green tones imitate the lushness of our treed river valleys and mountain wildernesses.⁣ ⁣ We used multiple green pigments in this resin river to create a glowing effect in the center. The table looks lit from within - and yet it's just the shade of metallic green in that area that illuminates that section.⁣ ⁣ Jeff and Lyndi are constructing a new office at the Village in Meridian for their robust team of real estate experts. As part of Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate network, they help people relocating and moving within the Treasure Valley find their "best lifestyle" home base. Commercial properties and investments are also a specialty. The new office is gorgeous, modern, light-filled and ideally located. They'll be opening once construction is finished.⁣ ⁣ Thank you for your support for local craftsmanship, Jeff and Lyndi! It was so enjoyable to pour this table with you and your daughters at our shop. You did a fantastic job. Work in progress: a walnut and resin chandelier. This is a fun collab with creative maker @matt.heim whose design, routing, lighting and assembly expertise is bringing our lighting dreams to life! β£πŸ’‘ ⁣ Our wonderful clients @kspann and @imatrblmkr ⁣ commissioned this custom chandelier for above their WoodLab dining table. ⁣ We have discussed feature lighting ideas for months with Matt, and have wanted to get into custom lighting more. This project was just the opportunity we needed. Thank you, Janelle and Kyrsten for trusting us with this concept! ❀ ⁣ The inner lighting kit is from @westelm with custom cabling and wiring. The bulbs will illuminate the slate blue and copper river and cast a soft, diffused light in their dining space. ⁣ ⁣ A lot has gone into this project, and Matt has labored diligently with the details. But we're getting close to completion and look forward to installing it for our clients soon!

Just in time for @rembrandtseagle re-opening tomorrow, we had the privilege of building and installing this 25 foot local American elm and resin river bar top yesterday! ⁣ ⁣ As if Rembrandt's wasn't already a destination for food, drinks and friends, their "2020 update" and this bar is something that will draw and unite our community and bring an encouraging "refresh" to the #weareeaglestrong local scene this spring.⁣ ⁣ This bar also nods to the history of the area, having been crafted from local American elm rescued from a golf course before it became an industrial center. We painstakingly drafted, measured, cut and assembled this vast expanse to ensure that it fit the exact specs of the bar area and formed a contiguous river and corner bend. The longest length is 150" before we had to seam it. ⁣ ⁣ Note the blue resin gem fills in the corner area - some of our favorite features of this build. We also love the elm's wavy live edge which is further highlighted by the gradient blue resin river. ⁣ ⁣ And of course, it's lit! The LED backlights follow the live edge and the colors can be changed to fit the mood: blues, greens, purples, pinks and white light can ebb and flow through the river, giving it the look of running water.⁣ ⁣ Anthony of @holzapplecustomdesigns crafted the metal plate base for the bar and utilized his 25 years' of construction experience to ensure this bar was solidly installed and can stand the test of time. ⁣ ⁣ We had a great time installing this yesterday. Thanks for the 70's and 80's hits, CJ, and the eventual toast to keep us moving and groovin' through the nearly 6 hour install! β£πŸ•ΊπŸ₯ƒ ⁣ Hats off to CJ Cacioppo and Dale Willman, owners of Rembrandt's and staunch supporters of this community: thank you so very much for supporting local artisans like us while continuing the legacy of this building. As the First Baptist Church of Eagle, established in 1895, they have continued its history as a community gathering place. β£πŸ’› ⁣ Be sure to stop in this coming week and patronize this and other local businesses who are carefully re-opening and relying on us patrons to get out and show our support! 🀝🍽

When you meet on Etsy and become mutual fans, it’s pretty neat. @lanabananabearr, a hero hospital worker from California ordered a custom river handled board from us online. We had a couple of unusual things happen in the course of the order fulfillment, but in the end, we became Etsy friends and enjoyed our supportive repartee. ⁣⁣😍⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ The board listing had a mis-type, which she pointed out, and we of course accommodated. And then, by an odd mix-up, we sent her an extra board – long story – and offered for her to ship it back to us, but she fell in love with it and purchased it at a discount in addition to her custom board. ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ Lana shared a lovely photo πŸ‘‰πŸ‘‰with us and we wanted to share because it highlights what a difference it makes when people select goods and gifts that support local makers and businesses. Happy hour in Eagle is going to get a lot more intriguing with this 25' custom river bar for @rembrandtseagle! When one of our dining tables reaches its home destination and the client is β€œbeyond words” happy with the outcome, it is extremely gratifying. Laura, our really lovely Avon Lake, Ohio client, commissioned this premium walnut and silver resin river table for her beautiful lake home. As you can see from the in-home images, the dining nook view is so very dreamy! ⁣ ⁣ We enjoyed working with Linda on every detail: the just-right slab, the type of live edge and grain she wanted to make her table extra special, leg styles and colors and to-the-inch specifications for leg placement so that her beautiful new upholstered dining chairs would comfortably fit, as would her long-legged family when sharing a meal around the table. ⁣ ⁣ Laura was a dream to work with and we look forward to future projects together. We love when clients care enough about the details and then enjoy the result all the more, because their hands and hearts were involved in the β€œmaking of” as well.⁣ ⁣ And that "making" process is very special to us: crafted with love, attention to detail and treated like it was our own family’s table. Crafting a table is more than form and function. It’s the platform for your family’s everyday and special moments and memories and moments that will be formed around it. It’s about building heritage and enriching hearts and homes. ❀🏠 ⁣ ⁣ We love the significance behind it and we love the process. We are thankful for you, our clients, and the blessing to do what we love. Thank you, Laura! 😊

We crafted this walnut limb and white resin table for a local client and can’t get over the wavy edges, which grain and lovely knots of these slabs. The live edges are elegant and reveal the tree’s story of branches and the strength that this walnut tree had to develop over time. ⁣ ⁣ Casting slabs in resin is a great way to highlight the live edges of the tree and bring this local tree’s beauty into focus.⁣ ⁣ Custom legs by @forrestweldingllc.⁣ ⁣ Send us a message to start your custom order! ⁣
